Calendar Girls – tickets now on sale for the stage version of the smash hit film

At first glance it should look like your classic WI calendar. Jams, cakes, sewing and all that. Except for one tiny thing…the ladies aren’t naked, they’re nude.

A group of extraordinary women, members of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference! Overcoming their initial reserve, the friends drop their dressing gowns, modesty spared only by artfully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements. Puzzling their husbands, mortifying their children, and riding the wrath of the outraged WI, they spark a global phenomenon. As interest snowballs, the CALENDAR GIRLS find themselves revealing more than they’d ever planned.

A very British story with a very British heart, CALENDAR GIRLS is quirky, poignant and hilarious. Adapted by Tim Firth from his smash hit film of the same name, it is based on an uplifting and very inspiring true story.

Performance dates: 4 April – 19 September 2009

Venue: Noel Coward Theatre, St Martin’s Lane, London, WC2

Carousel at Savoy Theatre!

A truly great classic musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CAROUSEL broke the mould with its gritty, courageous and emotional look at relationships. The story of the love affair between Billy Bigelow, a smooth-talking carousel barker, and Julie Jordan, a naive young mill worker, is set to one of the most ravishing and celebrated scores of all time, including The Carousel Waltz, If I Loved You, June is Bustin’ Out All Over  and You’ll Never Walk Alone. CAROUSEL has captivated audiences across the world since its original Broadway opening in 1945 and was lauded ‘Best Musical of the 20th Century’ by Time Magazine in 1999.

In this new production, Lesley Garrett, CBE, Britain’s most popular soprano, who recently lifted the roof as the Mother Abbess in The Sound Of Music, plays the pivotal role of ‘Nettie’. Lesley is joined by Jeremiah James as ‘Billy Bigelow’. Best-known as a member of the internationally renowned recording group, Theatro, Jeremiah earned critical acclaim in the US as Curly in Trevor Nunn’s Oklahoma! and has appeared in Crazy For You, The Full Monty and White Christmas. ‘Julie Jordan’ is Alexandra Silber, who co-starred in Fiddler on the Roof at The Savoy Theatre.

With direction by Lindsay Posner and choreography by Adam Cooper, this production promises to be truly wonderful.

Blood Brothers has now extended bookings till July 2009!

This award winning (winning ‘Best Musical’ awards from Society of West End Theatres, Drama Magazine, Ivor Novello and Play and Players) musical tells the story of two twins who are separated at birth, but whose paths cross again when they are older. The musical is set in Liverpool and contains the song ‘Tell Me It’s Not True’.

Interestingly of all the long-running musicals currently in London, Blood Brothers is unique in that the current production, which originally opened at the Albery Theatre in 1988, is actually its second incarnation – the original production failed to score a West End success at the Lyric Theatre in 1983 (where it run for six months). The producer Bill Kenwright picked up the rights to the musical in 1987, and a re-vamped Blood Brothers returned to the West End the following year.

Blood Brothers has now extened its run till July 2009! Blood Brothers is currentnly running at Phoenix Theatre.
